Modelling System for Agricultural Impacts of Climate Chance (MOSAICC)
The Modelling System for Agricultural Impacts of Climate Change (MOSAICC) is an integrated package of models which allows users to assess the impact of climate change on agriculture. The aim of MOSAICC is to build capacities of experts in countries to understand potential climate change impacts better, and to help policymakers with climate change adaptation strategies, programmes, projects and investments. MOSAICC is developed within the framework of the EU/FAO “Improved Global Governance for Hunger Reduction” programme. It assesses crop production systems, water and forest resources and the national economy under changing climatic conditions. The climate impact assessments at country level constitute a pertinent response to the UNFCCC Least Developed Countries Expert Group’s request for country-specific climate information.
The models integrated in MOSAICC are organized in five main components:
Climate, Crops, Hydrology, Forests, and Economy
MOSAICC is for researchers and students in the fields of climatology, agronomy, hydrology, forestry or economics to use as a powerful tool for the simulation of the impacts of climate change, as well as decision-makers pressed to provide answers to the challenges posed by changing climate conditions
