Africa Climate Week - Accelerating Article 6 Readiness in African Countries

Implementation of Article 6 market-based mechanisms of the Paris Agreement is a climate action priority for many African countries. Article 6 implementation allows the transfer of emission reductions between countries while also incentivizing the private sector to invest in climate-friendly solutions for NDC implementation, potentially halving the cost of implementing the NDCs. The West African Alliance on Carbon Markets, the Eastern Africa Alliance on Carbon Markets, and the NDC Partnership aim to bring together countries at different stages of Article 6 readiness to share insights from their current and planned activities regarding Article 6 implementation, including lessons learned from recent partner and regional south-south exchanges on Article 6 implementation. This event will provide a timely opportunity for countries to share their knowledge with an aim of accelerating Article 6 implementation across the continent.

This event is co-organized with the West African Alliance Carbon Markets and Climate Finance and the Eastern African Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance.
