In 2018, with the support of the NDC Partnership, World Bank, and the Camões Institute, the Government of Mozambique conducted an extensive consultative process at the provincial and national levels, which led to the elaboration of a medium-term implementation plan (2020-2025 NDC Roadmap) outlining a comprehensive approach to climate action in the country. Building of the road map, Mozambique's Partnership Plan was launched by high-level Government representatives, with support from development partners and non-state actors in November 2018. It includes developing bankable projects pipelines; project financing; strengthening institutional coordination, regulations and policies; enhancing capacity for mitigation and adaptation actions across sectors; improving the nation MRV systems; developing budget coding; and engaging the private sector. Mozambique is currently enhancing its NDC, increasing its quality and ambition. The Partnership has supported the process by directly contributing with technical and financial resources to improve emission projections, costing, analysis of adaptation actions, and coordination of partners providing support. The Partnership is also supporting the development of the country's Long-Term Strategy. Moving forward, the Partnership is assisting the update and implementation of Mozambique's NDC Implementation Plan, the mainstreaming of climate change into the 5-year Development Plan and budgeting process, the development of a climate finance strategy, and the mobilization and coordination of national and international resources to support the national climate-development agenda.
