In July 2021, Seychelles submitted its updated NDC with support from 7 partners members of the Partnership through the Partnership’s Climate Action Enhancement Package (CAEP). Seychelles commits to reducing economy wide absolute GHG emissions by 26.4% compared to a BAU scenario. Seychelles’ updated NDC also boasts higher ambition than the previous one and includes innovative approaches to meeting its emissions reductions target, such as carbon mapping of marine and coastal stocks, approaches to conservation and nature-based solutions, and a national commitment to protect up to 100% of its coastal and marine area by 2030. Seychelles' Partnership Plan was developed in consultation with sectors on measures to support the National Renewable Energy Roadmap and to set up a national monitoring, reporting, and verification system. It was validated by Seychelles’ National Climate Change Committee. A key next step will be to revise the Plan and update it according to the revised NDC.
