Lao PDR’s updated NDC consists of an unconditional greenhouse gases emission reduction target of 60% by 2030 compared to the 2020 baseline scenario, or around 62,000 ktC02e. With international support the country aims to develop 1.3GW of renewable energy output from wind, solar, and biomass. The NDC also includes an estimated financing needs of USD 4.7 billion. The NDC revision process was supported by the NDC Partnership Climate Action Enhancement Package through partners FAO, GGGI, and World Bank. In February and June 2021, Lao PDR submitted a request for support letter to the NDC Partnership Support Unit which have received positive responses from ADB; FAO; GGGI, GIZ, ICLEI, IRENA, IWMI, UNDP, UNESCAP, and UNICEF.
