Renewable Energy: A Gender Perspective

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has created a report that analyzes the status of women's participation in the energy sector, discusses the various factors that prohibit their participation, and provides solutions to improve gender balance in the energy sector. This report provides this analysis of women in the energy sector and potential solutions for this issue, for two distinct employment settings- the modern energy context (in which renewables displace or complement conventional energy) and the energy access context (which is characterized by efforts to expand access to modern energy services).
