Sani Mahazou

Niger Facilitator

Mr. Sani Mahazou holds am Engineer diploma in Industrial Chemistry, with specialization in Environmental Engineering from the University of Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene in Algiers. While working at the Ministry in charge of the Environment of the Niger, he has completed several internships and trainings at: the International Academy of the Environment in Geneva on environment and sustainable development concepts, and in China on the Integration and interdependence of agriculture, livestock, water, the environment, and on the integrated management of water resources. 
Mr. Mahazou has thirty years of experience within the Department of Environment and served as the Head of the fight against pollution and nuisances Division, the General Director of the Environment and Sustainable Development, and have acted as focal point for Multilateral Environmental Agreements including the Montreal Protocol, the Basel Convention, and the Stockholm Convention. He was also member of Niger national group of expert’s negotiators during the UNFCCC Conference of Parties.
Mr. Mahazou has carried out several consultancies on behalf of multilateral organizations such as UNDP, the World Bank, UNEP, UNIDO in connection with the normative and institutional framework of environmental policy in Niger, climate change, municipal solid waste, hazardous wastes, and chemicals.
The position is supported by Belgium’s Federal Service of Public Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment.
