Nicolás Cisneros

Senior Country Engagement Specialist

Nicolás Cisneros has a dual role at the NDC Partnership Support Unit, working both as a Senior Country Engagement Specialist in Latin America, and with the Climate Action Enhancement Package (CAEP) on programmatic coordination with implementing partners.

Prior to joining the Partnership, Nicolás worked at the United Nations Environment Programme’s Post-Conflict and Disaster Management Branch on issues related to environmental peacebuilding and the conceptualization of the relationship between natural resources/environment and conflict, quantifying impacts, and designing sustainable policies to promote peace and prosperity. He later joined UNEP’s Environment and Trade Hub at the Resources & Markets Branch, which seeks to enable countries to use trade, investment, and principles of green economy as vehicles for achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. More recently, he worked with UNEP’s Regional Office for Latin American and the Caribbean on the development of the Pacific Alliance’s green growth strategy, collaborating closely with the Alliance’s Environment and Green Growth Technical Group.

Nicolás is a proud Ecuadorian and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Davidson College and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.
