Imane Chafiq

Country Engagement Specialist

Imane Chafiq is a Country Engagement Specialist for francophone countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and the MENA region for the NDC Partnership Support Unit. She engages directly with countries and members of the Partnership to assess climate-related needs and identify coordinated collaborations for the NDC implementation, resources mobilization and the green economic recovery post-pandemic.

Prior to joining the NDC Partnership, Imane managed national and international projects in Morocco and the Netherlands to integrate resources efficiency and clean technologies within different industrial sectors.

She has also served as Technical Advisor with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) for the Moroccan Government, where she provided strategic support to strengthen the country climate governance and action, by leading the implementation of a GHG reporting system, the NDC formulation process, and supporting the preparation of the COP22. She has also forged collaborations with African Countries to strengthen capacities for climate finance readiness and the private sector engagement.

Imane holds a Master in Energy and Environmental Management from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, combined with a Msc (Hons) in Academic Research.
