Arig Bakhiet

Sudan Facilitator

Arig is an Energy and Climate Change specialist, with a Honors B.Sc. Engineering and M.Sc. Environmental studies from University of Khartoum, Sudan, and Ph.D. in Energy Technologies from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TU – Dresden, Germany. 

Arig is an accredited reviewer for Energy with the UNFCCC (Sudan Chapter), registered as consultant Engineer in the Sudanese Engineering Council. 
Arig attended various national and international trainings and knowledge sharing programs and was selected in the International visitor leadership program for women leaders organized by the Secretary of States, USA.

She started working in industry as a workshop engineer but shifted to Research and Higher education institutions, as lecturer and academic supervisor at different Sudanese universities. In addition, she held senior administrative duties among others as an academic supervisor for the M.Sc. program in Renewable Energy at the Sudan Academy of Science. Furthermore, she is a founding director for the renewable energy incubator at the National Energy Research Center 
She has also collaborated with Sudan government in preparing different technical environment and climate studies and reports such as the National Communication (NC), Technology Needs Assessment (TNA), National Determined Contributions (NDC), and Transforming to Green Economy. Arig was also member of Sudan delegate Team for COP25 (Paris). She has volunteers for issues of knowledge sharing, cultural dialogue and environment at different Sudanese civil society organizations.
