Contributions to the Partnership
IKI NDC Support Cluster and Helpdesk
The German Ministry for Environment established the NDC Support Cluster in the framework of its International Climate Initiative (IKI) to support developing countries in a timely and comprehensive manner with the implementation of their nationally determined contributions (NDCs). The Cluster draws together the expertise and experience from its implementing partners with a focus on four thematic support areas: political and institutional frameworks, sector approaches, financing, and data and transparency. The NDC Helpdesk provides easy-to-access, short-term support on a number of challenges around NDC implementation in developing countries. Governments can contact the Helpdesk to address specific barriers to or gaps in NDC implementation. The Helpdesk works through a network of experts which provide technical assistance in different fields related to NDC implementation.
IKI World Map:
The IKI World Map makes it easy to search and find all International Climate Initiative (IKI) projects around the globe. The map can be easily filtered by project country, region, or project topic, and includes project descriptions, key words, duration, and funding volume.
Briefing series on sectoral implementation of nationally determined contributions (NDCs)
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has published a series of briefing papers dealing with the sectoral implementation of nationally determined contributions (NDCs). The eight different briefing have been complied by the GIZ Climate Policy Support Programme, which supports developing countries in their efforts in climate change adaptation and mitigation, and focus each on a different sector: the finance, transparency, energy supply, energy sufficiency, transport, agriculture, and forestry and land-use sectors are covered.
NDC Implementation Facility - Agence Française de Développement (AFD)
The AFD facility assists with NDC implementation in 15 developing countries. This new NDC Facility will help countries strengthen their “climate” governance to ensure they effectively implement their NDC, translate their NDCs into sectoral public policies, combined with concrete action plans focused on key climate change sectors, and design transformational “climate” programs and projects, with a priority focus on adaptation. The priority geographical target focuses on African countries, the Least Developed Countries, and Small Island Developing States. The aim is to help countries vulnerable to climate change achieve climate-resilient development trajectories and support the increase in “climate investments,” with a focus on the field of adaptation.
Energy Performance and Carbon Emissions Assessment and Monitoring (ECAM) tool
The Energy Performance and Carbon Emissions Assessment and Monitoring (ECAM) tool from the Water and wastewater companies for climate change mitigation (WaCCliM ) enables utilities to calculate emissions and explore areas in which to reduce them. It provides insight into various stages in the urban water cycle, including water supply, wastewater treatment, and sludge management.
Ambition, Participation and Effectiveness: Utilising the NDC Partnership as a Catalyst for NDC Implementation in Developing Countries from Bread for the World, in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and ACT Alliance
This paper explores how the NDC Partnership can help embed climate goals in the broader development agenda and mobilize social support and participation to help countries deliver on their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and related Sustainable Development Goal commitments. The paper includes 14 policy recommendations to guide the Partnership's work.
